ABSTRACT: Early childhood education (ECE) plays a pivotal role in fostering kindness and empathy among young children, essential for their social and emotional development. This study examines how ECE programs contribute to cultivating kindness behaviors in early childhood. The objectives are to (1) assess the promotion of kindness and empathy in ECE curricula, (2) evaluate the impact of ECE on children's prosocial behaviors and altruistic actions, and (3) examine changes in children's attitudes towards kindness influenced by ECE participation. A survey design is employed to gather comprehensive data on kindness behaviors and qualitative insights into children's empathy development. A purposive sample of 130 children  from preschools in Adamawa State was selected. The case study focuses on preschools known for their kindness promotion initiatives. Findings revealed increased kindness and empathy among children, enhanced prosocial behaviors, and positive attitudes towards kindness fostered by ECE participation. Recommendations include integrating kindness education into ECE curricula, modeling prosocial behaviors, and fostering a culture of empathy in early childhood settings.
